What You Will Learn

Our curriculum is based on OSHA’s training program requirements, which call for instruction on both truck‑related and workplace‑specific topics.

Key subjects include:

Operating
principles

Controls, instrumentation, steering, maneuvering and stability of a forklift.

Vehicle inspection and maintenance

Daily checks to ensure safe operation, including refueling or battery charging procedures.

Load handling

Assessing load composition, stability and proper stacking or unstacking techniques.

Site considerations

Navigating ramps, narrow aisles, pedestrian areas and other environmental challenges.

Hazard awareness

Identifying potential risks such as inadequate ventilation, carbon monoxide buildup or unstable surfaces.

Emergency response

Safe shutdown procedures and incident reporting.
Throughout the course, trainees perform supervised exercises and receive constructive feedback. OSHA stipulates that operators may operate trucks only under direct supervision and where such operation does not endanger others, so our practice sessions prioritize safety and confidence.

Certification Process

Achieving certification through SafeLift is straightforward:

We also offer recertification services for operators whose evaluation is due or whose job responsibilities have changed. Refresher training is required when operators are assigned new types of trucks, change work locations, or have been observed operating unsafely.
